Anime Review: Rubric

Here is a brief rubric for all of my anime reviews.  I'll preface all posts like Anime Review: [Anime name].

Roadmap to Anime Greatness

The way to rate anime varies by person, but the basic categories for which we derive our opinions are story, characters, animation, and soundtrack/voice acting.  The story has to be engaging enough to grab our interest and keep it throughout the entirety.  Characters have to be somewhat realistic and inspire a sense of empathy.  Animation has to be fluid and depict a world that distinguishes it from live action.  Soundtrack should be memorable, and voice acting has to fit the characters.  If you do well on most of these then you probably have a great anime.

Rubric

I'll take the 4 categories (animation, sound, characters, and story) and split it into good and bad sections.  For now, the plan is to not rate each of the categories individually, because the overall experience doesn't lend itself to a straight average of the numbers.  Leave a comment if you would like to see these numbers anyway.

If you only care about a rating, I will put that under FINAL THOUGHTS.

Thanks,
Peter
